Julia Marin - Contemporary Jewellery

This time a big ball.... very simple, very basic yet an absolute bold statement for your hand!

The sphere has been domed by hand and put together onto this 1.2ml plate that shapes the space to hold it as well to envolve your finger on its widest part.

It is extremly minimalist, only 2 elements involved on its composition.
Stunningly volumetric and super light at the same time as the sphere is completly hollow.

Playful doughnuts

These are two new rings I made while in AKL, I think wearing them together is quite cool. The doughnuts (copper and silver) spin inside the frames (square and round) inviting you to play with them while wearing the ring/s!

Satellite Flower/ Flor Satelite

This is one of my latests creations. I 've just got myself the dome base so I'm hammering bubbles and trying new shapes! It doesn't have any meaning really, but when making it as a Flower with a chain I thought...maybe is the child that never wants to grow old? just a thought...then a friend said: "Oh I know! It's a Satellite"... so... here I present the Satellite Flower...(of Peter Pan!)

Pohutukawa Flower Ring

There are several motives that inspire me; at the moment I am quite immerse in our surroundings. Pohutukawa trees caught my attention from the very first time I saw them. I normally follow a very minimalistic, geometric style but in The Pohutukawa Flower Ring I allowed myself to show a more organic line, still very simple.

Julia Marin was born in 1980. She grew up in Francisco Alvarez, a small town in the Province of Buenos Aires. In 1999 she starts her Law studies at the University of Buenos Aires. Is not until the next year that she finds interest on Design, so she starts her Indumentary Design studies, at the same University. She would continued these two studies together till 2004, year in which she finally leaves Law School to continue with Design and at the same time start assisting to the Jewellery courses performed by the Argentinean Jewellers Asociation.

Since then she has been making these pieces that bring her so much satisfaction all along the creation process, although, not always having the time or the money to develop every idea.

In 2008 she travels to New Zealand, where she currently lives, and during these last two years she pauses design. Pause that is considered to be an "enforcement", as she thinks it's the reason for which, today, when she grabs her tools, this creation energy, once believed to be slept, forgotten, or even lost, rebirth and it express itself in the metal, stronger than ever, dearing to be shown, being.

Julia Marin nace en Buenos Aires un 8 de Noviembre de 1980. Crecio en Francisco Alvarez y en 1999 comienza sus estudios de Abogacia en la UBA. Al ano siguiente descubre su interes por el Diseno y comienza, tambien en la UBA, la carrera de Diseno de Indumentaria; carreras ambas, que continuaria en forma paralela hasta el ano 2004, en el cual, ya instalada en la Capital, deja abogacia para dedicarse definitivamente al Diseno y comienza a asistir al Taller de Joyeria del Sindicato Argentino de Joyeros y dar sus primeros pasos en el mundo del metal.

Desde entonces ha continuado haciendo estas piezas que tanta satisfaccion le generan durante todo el proceso de creacion, aunque muy timidamente y no siempre teniendo el tiempo o el dinero suficientes para desarrollar las ideas que surgian.

En el aNo 2008 viaja a Nueva Zelanda, donde vive actualmente y durante estos casi dos anos pone una pausa al diseno. Esta pausa que actualmente considera "refortalecedora", es la razon gracias a la cual hoy siente que al retomar las herramientas esta energia creadora que se creyo dormida, olvidada y hasta perdida, renace y se expresa en el metal con mas fuerza, mas ganas, innovando y sobretodo sin miedos.
